On 13 July 2016 I received the following mail:

Hi Michael –

But we do have some good news for you! Your submission was among the top-rated entries in the Magnum Photography Awards 2016. This is an impressive accomplishment given the record number of submissions we received. So, we've upgraded your LensCulture account to a Portfolio Account which means you can now upload an unlimited number of photo projects, link to your photo books and add more to your profile info. Portfolio Accounts are free to photographers we invite, forever. It's also free to publish new work — all of which our editors will see and our global audience can appreciate. If you already have a Portfolio Account, we encourage you to upload your work if you haven't already done so.

During the competition, we made our best efforts to maximize exposure for these hundreds of top-notch entries. While the Awards were open, 587 photos were selected by both Magnum and LensCulture editors for the Magnum Competition Gallery. These were viewed more than 1.3 million times on LensCulture—a record number! We also posted 167 photos of these editor-selected submissions to our Facebook page, which reached approximately 3.6 million photography lovers over the course of the competition.

We are also happy to remind you that each participant who submitted a series or 5+ single images is eligible to receive a free review of their work, written by a photo industry professional. This valuable critical feedback is designed to help photographers of all levels move forward creatively and professionally in their careers. Our deadline to finish these reviews is September 30, 2016, however, we are likely to get them all completed and sent out sooner.

We would like to re-iterate our gratitude for your participation in the Magnum Photography Awards 2016 and for the time you spent preparing your work. We hope you continue being an active member of LensCulture's global community of photographers—best of luck out there!

Best wishes to you,

The LensCulture and Magnum Teams
